Poppy is a classically trained first generation Chinese-American actress + poet who uses storytelling as a necessary vehicle for healing, expansion + intersectional liberation. As a first generation woman of color, Poppy brings a diasporic lens to all of the work that she creates.
While Poppy's performance background began with dance, her performance modalities range from classical text, poetry, performance art, butoh, puppetry + oral narrative storytelling.
Poppy is the founder of the storytelling initiative + production company Collective Sex which has the mission of decolonizing storytelling. Most of her work in the areas of community organizing, producing + public speaking are in relation to this organization.
